    Growing awareness of the possible consequences of greenhouse gas emissions has led to increased investment in the search for technologies with the potential to reduce such emissions. The significant increase in patenting in related fields and the need to be able to retrieve this information easily has resulted in the development of Y02, the new classification scheme for climate change mitigation technologies.
