Patenting in green technologies
Patenting in green technologies – challenges from an examiner/patent office perspective
Green tech is a top priority across the globe, and innovation in green tech is key to achieving ambitious goals, such as zero carbon emissions in the medium term. Patenting in green tech has increased more than in any other technical field and is the subject of scrutiny for a variety of players, from governments looking for data to stimulate and steer innovation, to companies, inventors and investors. Green technologies get special attention at the EPO too.
This video explains why innovation in green tech is important, how EPO examiners deal with it and what challenges green tech patents pose to examiners.

IP related challenges for an in-house IP team in a green technology environment
IP related challenges for an in-house IP team in a green technology environment
Innovation is at the heart of progress in green technologies. This is true for SMEs and universities, as well as for larger companies. However, as larger companies may have larger market share and in house attorneys, their challenges are often somewhat different to those faced by SMEs and universities.
